Performative Revitalisations

Energy-efficient multi-sensory experiences to enhance the urban environment
(2014)

Performative Revitalisations are low-cost and energy-efficient ways to create multi-sensory experiences in decaying buildings and urban areas in order to enhance the physical environment, improve the urban safety and engage people in cultural and entertaining activities that can facilitate socialisation. Performative Revitalisations involve mobilising artists, designers and performing arts professionals as well as local communities to transform and implement private and public spaces either temporarily or permanently by combining affordability, innovation and sustainability.

Conceived primarily for abandoned and under-utilised spaces, Performative Revitalisations take form from people’s needs and desires as well as from the history of places turning them into choreographies that engage people’s minds and bodies whilst offering municipalities and the owners of decaying buildings a way to convert them into profitable attractions.
